The San Diego Viennese Waltz Club, with the San Diego Vintage Dancers and the Performing Folk Dancers of Balboa Park, participates in a continuing Friday night class / dance at the Casa del Prado in Balboa Park. Most Friday nights beginning at 7:15 pm we teach a class, review past instruction, then dance! This event is casual, and intended to be beginner friendly. All ages from teens to retired are welcome. No partner required.
Some important points:
- The class is FREE.
- The instructors are not professionals (in keeping with the price) but are very supportive.
- We teach to the level of whoever comes and participates.
- No alcohol or smoking allowed.
- Casual attire; no dress code, so dress comfortably.
- No partner required.
- Class starts at 7:15 pm and goes to 9:45 pm.
Only some of the Friday evenings are devoted to Viennese Waltz. Classes and practices include various Vintage Ballroom Dances and European ethnic dances from the Victorian age to the Swing era. Watch the email lists for news, or ask on the (main discussion) list about the plan for the next Friday evening. Each session ends with request dancing which may include Viennese Waltz — please ask for what you'd like to practice; bring your own CDs if you like.
In the month or so preceding any major Waltz Ball, we will have more Viennese Waltz lessons and dancing in practice for the Ball.

Directions
The location is upstairs in room 207 of the Casa del Prado in Balboa Park.
To get to Balboa Park, take Highway 163 south to the 4th Street / Interstate 5 exit. Follow the ramp toward Interstate 5, there is an exit ramp from there to Park Boulevard. At the bottom of the ramp, turn LEFT on Park Boulevard. You will pass over Interstate 5. Then pass President's Way, past a couple of lights to Village Place. Village Place is the light just after the pedestrian overcross. Turn left and find a place to park.
There is a large glass fronted building, the Natural History Museum, facing a giant Fig tree. Across Village Place from this (to the West) is a building that looks like a church or cathedral. That is the Prado Junior Theater.
To the left of this is the Casa del Prado building. The Casa del Prado has a courtyard inside, enter through the open doors on the North or South side. Go up the stairs to the West end of the building.
